Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). He is the younger brother of Athena, who is also drummer. When Lee was approximately two years[4of age, his father moved the family back to the United States, settling in California.Lee got his first drum sticks when he turned four years old. He also received the first real drum set as a teenager. Lee quit high school to pursue music as a career which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based group that was a club. As a teen He listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influencers. Terry Bozzio is also an important influence.
